HIFU Non-Surgical Facelift (Third Generation)

V shaped face

As a part of the ageing process, our skin - and tissue - loses its collagen, resulting in skin laxity, or what you might call face sagging.

To fight this particular effect of ageing, you may like to consider a non-invasive, non-surgical facelift procedure, which can help you maintain your youthful appearance without the need to endure a recovery period following the lift.

Collagen production slows with age, and HIFU non-surgical facelifts are proven to be an effective method for tackling this common ageing concern, encouraging your body to naturally increase the levels of collagen and elastin it’s producing, lifting and tightening your skin as a result.

Using high intensity focused ultrasound for face lifting, the structural layers of your skin will be targeted with heat, leaving you fresh-faced and looking years younger.

What is HIFU?

HIFU stands for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound. It is a non-invasive medical procedure that uses focused ultrasound waves to heat and target specific tissues deep within the body.

It works by delivering focused ultrasound energy to specific target points in the body, heating the tissues at those points and causing cellular disruption or coagulation without harming the surrounding structures.

Commonly used for facial skin tightening, including upper and lower cheeks, chin, and neck. It is particularly beneficial for individuals with mild to moderate skin laxity who wish to avoid surgery and have little downtime.

One of the main advantages of HIFU for cosmetic purposes is that it can achieve noticeable results without the need for incisions, anesthesia, or downtime.

The procedure is typically well-tolerated, and patients can often resume their normal activities shortly after treatment.

Revolutionary, non-surgical face lifting

Ultrasound therapy (HIFU) shoots ultrasound waves into the skin, heating targeted tissue at a dual plane, 3mm and 4.5mm depth, tightening the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS) and stimulating the body’s natural collagen production.

After the treatment your skin will tighten, and you will see further improvements over time, as your body starts producing collagen again.

A precise tightening treatment for the skin and deeper tissues (SMAS), your body’s natural healing and collagen regeneration process will welcome a healthier and tighter appearance to your face, neck and décolleté.

HIFU Non-surgical facelift FAQs

1.When will I see results?
Generally, the skin will begin to look smoother and tighter after your first treatment, and you’ll see continuous improvement for up to six months thereafter, as your collagen continues to regenerate.
It’s worth noting that the results will vary from person to person, depending on the original condition of the skin and deeper tissue, as well as the degree and cause of the damage.
2. How is HIFU treatment carried out?
  • No anaesthetic is required
  • The treatment takes between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the area
  • A gel will be applied to the treatment area
  • You may experience a prickling sensation, followed by a feeling of mild heat
  • Different heads are used for the various depths and skin conditions

3. Does the HIFU Non-Surgical Facelift hurt?
For skin tightening and lifting, no anaesthetic is required – plus, with the third generation HIFU we use at Define Aesthetics, you can expect even lower levels of pain or discomfort.

The levels of treatment can be adjusted to suit patient comfort.

4. Is the HIFU device safe?
Yes, the treatment and device are perfectly safe, but it must be carried out by a suitably trained and experienced healthcare professional to ensure that different areas are treated at the correct levels.
5. What are the potential downtime and side effects?
You may experience a mildly warm sensation for an hour or two after your treatment; that aside, you should feel virtually no discomfort and there shouldn’t be a need for downtime.
Your skin may be red in appearance for a few hours after the treatment; this usually resolves in less than 24 hours. Swelling is minimal, particularly under the eyes (if treated) and resolves in one to two days. Make-up may be applied after 24 hours.
After treatment, you can go ahead with your daily activities. If you do experience any swelling, you can expect this to reside within three to seven days and any slight ache or discomfort should resolve within one to two weeks.
This technology is usually not suitable for those with a ‘sunken’ face, as there would be a risk of melting facial subcutaneous fats. Neuropraxia (temporary nerve damage) is rare.
6. Care following treatment
The use of a high-factor sunscreen (SPF 50+) and recovery cream following your treatment plays a crucial role in the healing phase and should be used for several weeks following the treatment.
Your doctor will discuss all your aftercare needs with you during your consultation and our professional and friendly team are always on hand to answer any questions you may have once you’ve had your treatment.
